Norwegian technology group Kongsberg Gruppen announced on Monday it has completed its acquisition of Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine (RRCM).
Officially part of Kongsberg Maritime, RRCM will operate under the KONGSBERG brand and the Kongsberg Maritime legal entity.
Kongsberg Gruppen announced its intention to acquire Rolls-Royce’s marine business in July 2018 in a deal reportedly worth GBP 500 million at the time of the announcement. The acquisition was to include the marine products, systems and aftermarket services businesses of subsidiaries of Rolls-Royce Plc, but not its Bergen Engines or Rolls-Royce’s Naval Business subsidiaries.
Kongsberg says with the acquisition completed, Kongsberg is now represented in 40 countries, with 11,000 employees and an annual turnover of more than NOK 22 billion. In addition, Kongsberg now has equipment and deliveries associated with around 30,000 vessels worldwide.
